General Information

Choosing a skilled nursing facility (nursing home) and or extended care facility is a process that should entail some thought and preparation before a decision is made. Today, skilled nursing facilities (nursing homes) serve the needs of a wide variety of residents and patients, from the aged to the young, sick to the injured. Most often hospitals and physicians will either recommend and or refer patients to skilled nursing facilities for post hospital care. In certain instances, someone residing at home may no longer he capable of providing him or her self with the care that they need. No matter the predicament, today's nursing facilities are geared toward service.

Admission

Willowood Care Center, is a facility that is capable of meeting the demands of a diverse patient/resident population while providing them with the care that they need in a spacious, home-like setting. All admissions are based upon resident need, bed availability, and our ability to meet the needs of each specific patient/resident. It is our policy to admit only those individuals that have needs we feel we can meet.

After a determination is made regarding admission, there are several requirements that must be fulfilled before we may admit a patient. These included, but are not limited to, our receipt of a history and physical completed by the physician, an MI/MR screening and other requirements set forth by the Ohio Department of Health. We have qualified professionals that will help you through this process. Upon admission the patient/resident will go through the admitting process of various assessments and other paperwork. These serve the purpose of assisting us to better identify and address all the specific needs that a resident may have.

How is Care Paid For?

This is a question that everyone has when it is determined that the services of a skilled nursing facility are needed. Generally speaking, there are four ways services are paid for in a nursing facility. They are:

PRIVATE PAY - This is when someone uses their personal assets for the payment of room/board and other services rendered in the facility. This is the source of payment when one does not qualify under specific Medicare, Medicaid, and Private Insurance guidelines.

MEDICARE - If you have Medicare, they will pay for up to 100 days of skilled nursing care per spell of illness, if you meet the requirements. These include but are not limited to a 3-day hospital stay, and continued need of skilled nursing services as set forth by Medicare guidelines.

MEDICAID - Medicaid is a state insurance program that will pay for nursing facility care once one has spent down their personal assets to the required state spend down limit. Medicaid can he applied for at the local department of human services office.

PRIVATE INSURANCE - Private insurance coverage varies. If you think services may qualify for coverage, you should contact your private insurance company for a determination of benefits.
